New Year, New Beginnig

The best start to any year I ever had. Independent in more ways that I can imagine. Back to trying to get fit, have been successfully failing in this endeavor for the last 8 years but I have a feeling that this year will be a lot different.

Following 3 programs, will post with the details when they get over.

Mid year review.

Another six months gone by... A LOT has happened over this short course of time. Closed the operations of Wild Experience Tours, joined and left the BPO industry and am now an analyst at the worlds largest money manager. Achieved a lot, made new friends. Met old friends after a long-long time. Did a small re-union of college pals... all in all everything is going well.

My first Half marathon.

For someone who couldn't even run 10 meters, doing 21.097km was like going to Mars. Having completed the half-marathon was emotional, Yeah... I had tears in my eyes, never knew I could do it. And it is the longest distance I've ever run.

I had registered for the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon to be held on 21st Nov. 2010 three months in advance and began practicing, hurt my knee midway and everything stopped. Got busy with life, did not run so that I don't aggravate my injury and could participate in the event.

Fast forward to D-Day. Got up at 5.30 in the morning, ate a banana, an apple and a guava... so much for breakfast. The race started at 7.30 (here we go). I had only one goal in my mind - Finish it within the allotted time of 3 hours, whatever it takes.

Started out with a slight jog, did the first 7km in 40 minutes (math said it'll take me 2 hrs, i felt confident), Crossed the 10km mark, then 12km - the maximum I had ever run before. Every point from here was a personal best, but I had to do it. I couldn't feel my feet, no pain - just me and the open road. Crossed the 14km mark and felt a sharp pain in my right knee - arrgh! not again, not now. I couldn't give up, not after covering more than 2/3rd's of the course. What kept me going? Random strangers cheering the runners, my will and the determination to keep on going - I had to reduce my pace though. I don't recall much after that, the pain was too much to think about anything else. Then the finish line came into view and I started sprinting towards it, taking long strides, F*** the pain - its not coming in-between my goal. Crossing the finish line was the best I've ever felt in my life.

It took me 2:55:15 to complete the Half Marathon. 55 minutes more than what I had earlier calculated. Considering I stopped practicing 45 days before the race and my knee injury, I think I did well.

What now? Well, I have 2 concrete goals to look forward to. Finish the 2011 Half-Marathon in under 2 hours and run the Full Marathon in Bombay in Jan 2012.

Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2010

Running in my first Half-Marathon tomorrow. The last I participated in a mass event was the Great Delhi Run 2008 - 7 kms. I have been training for this for quite some time now but due to a weird kind of pain in my right knee I stopped running 3-4 weeks back. Still not sure if its cured or not so got a knee support. I can run for more than an hour without losing breath so I know I can do it. Lets see how it goes. Will write a complete story after the run.

I had so much fun during the first 5 days that a new Idea came to my mind... Start a new blog which has information/results/experiments that I'll be testing (on myself) to get as fit as possible. Lets see how far do i go.

Weight is an issue. Issues are troublesome. Issues need to be resolved. Things take time, so i've given myself 30 days to get into a regime that'll keep the weight in check. Starting today, i'll be following the following points that i intend to adhere to strictly. NO Excuses.

- No Fast Food (No KFC, Mc Donalds etc.)
- No Carbonated Drinks (Include Coca Cola, Pepsi etc.)
- Sleep by 11pm, get up by 6am.
- Minimum 2kms run daily.
- Small Meals 5 times a day.

If there is some improvement i'll add more conditions and stuff. If there's no improvement i'll think of something else to do.

Edit: I'll post an update every 5 days, Next one will be on 12th.

Couldn't get through the SSB this time too. A bit disappointing but I gave my best. There's nothing I'd do differently if I give it a try again. Now I'm thinking of working for 3-4 years and then do my MBA.

Now on the push-ups front... will start the week 2 of the hundred push-up program tomorrow. Start my run from today evening... its been a while since I've been running. Getting back in schedule now. Will also start with swimming.

Planning a trip to Pondicherry later in the year... getting my body beach ready for that.

Doing Something Worthwhile

Everything has a reason; to put it straight. Living around computers since 1997, I am confident that I've learnt a lot. Web designing is one of them. I can make static websites. Instead of letting my skills go waste, I've decided to work on a website.

Instead of making a site for others, I've decided to make a website on myself and my friends. I'm working on it with a friend of mine. It'll have pictures and information of our travels. it'll be based on travelling, containing some tips, some info. regarding the place, our pics, some pics from the internet too. Presently working on the design part, thinking of looks and the structure. It has to be vibrant, eyecatching and perfect. As they say, set high standards and work towards it.

Thats it on the website thing for now, lets see how it works out. Apart from that i'll be busy this week preparing for my SSB, will be leaving for Bhopal on the 12th of this month. SSB is from 14th. Looks like I'll be touring Bhopal too. Cool. Even that'd go on the website.

Getting Organized

They were always correct. A systematic approach is necessary to get things done. What i'm referring to here is a "list". Making a list and then moving according to it sure sounds boring but is a great way to un-complicate things.
As we progress, new technology has to be adapted, evolution is necessary, that is the reason we have come so far. Talking about the "new" here, i've come across 43things.com, a website that caters towards lists. Had registered long back and added stuff to it. Now when i'm pondering over it, i realized that i had added goals which were way out of my reach; not impossible but there is no way i'd be able to do them in the coming 3-4 years.
To get things going i've moved it to the i give up section, will do them one by one when i'll have the ability to do it. Financially that is. Also i'm removing vague goals completely. There's no point in having them. Lets see how far can i go.

I always liked clicking pictures, not a pro, i've come up with an idea of making a photoblog, using a camera phone, i'll be clicking away at things and moments around me till i have resources to buy proper equipment. Will create a portfolio once i have 8 images ready. And photoshop will play an important role.

All this is my point of view - your opinions may differ.

TATAs have decided to move out of Singur, why are these politicians(*leaders*) against industrialization and development? They say that agricultural land was being used for the plant; as if their per hectare yield is the best in the world or these people earn more through agriculture. The Nano plant there would have added hundreds of jobs plus the influx of capital would have been benificial to the region.
Industrialisation is the key to development, all they care about is agriculture, even there they are not good, just look the statistics. Had that are been the largest producer of any of the crops in India, we could have thought otherwise.
Tatas made a correct decision staying in WB would have further increased their losses and if Indian companies cant set up establishments in India, what about the foriegn counterparts.

Running!

Wow!, the past two weeks have been simply awesome, i never knew i had the stamina to run like this. Started with 2kms, raised it up to 3.2kms and now i'm doing 5.2kms, Also did an 8km cross country run (with 2 pauses), the track was good, it had grass, sand, dirt paths, varied terrain with dips and raises. Running is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and i'm feeling fresh and fit as ever.

I've registered for the Great Delhi Run(7km)... its on 9th Nov. Started training for it, going around a 3.2km stretch of road around my locality... today I was 7 seconds faster...lol, have to increase my speed.

Went for my SSB in Allahabad from 17th-22nd August. Did not get recommended...the bad part. Apart from that had fun there, saw Allahabad, The Group Obstacle Race was the craziest thing I've ever done in my life - full of action and adrenalin. Individual obstacles were fun too especially the tarzan swing and the commando walk. Some of the ideas of the group planning exercise were hillarious. I met and interacted with a variety of people, some crazy, some insane and some completely wierd(according to my perception, they might appear normal to others). Made friends... good friends... three of them will become officers soon.

Coming to normal life : I'm getting bored of computers these days... lost interest in Online and Offline gaming, web designing, 3d modeling and the likes, was working on building an mmorpg but nowadays don't feel like doing that also. That's about the cribing.

Preparing for MBA now, lets see if I can make it to the corporate sector.

Trying to bring about lifestyle changes, getting up by 4 in the morning, studying and running daily(healthy mind and healthy body), plus messing around with my guitar; met a college friend, we spent hours playing msusic till our fingers started paining... had fun. We'll be planning more such activities in the future.

Haven't been posting much these days, finished my graduation(result due in june), have taken admission in an MBA coaching institute in cannaught place, waiting for my CDS results, its due anytime, Will be traveling now, touring various places and all. One Year... almost

This blog is about to complete one year, time has flown by.
I'm giving my exams for last year in college, i'll be a graduate now, just 2 months left. Its a nice feeling. Can't beleve its 3 years already. The CDS paper was nice, I think i should qualify for the SSB, hope every thing goes well, will give it one more try if something goes wrong(keeping my fingers crossed)

Been travelling a lot lately, most of them were unplanned, had fun and enjoyed it. Looking for more adventurous things to do and have more fun.

Used to think that people who can't maintain the blogs that they have started as idiots, now i've come to realise what a busy schedule means. Finished most of my papers, didn't do well in any of them, 2 left and both of them are in jan.

Created (or copied - whatever u say...lol) a template of a website i'm working on, only text and images have to be changed, one work done...

The holiday week has started, will be leaving for delhi (home sweet home) tonight around 12 or so. Thats it, don't know when will i find time for propper blogging...

September Gone By...

Its been a great month. Attended the Raising Day Party of 15 Guards, it was a three day event, did some Firing(Snaps are there in orkut), then had the college September tests - All were Ok-ish. Bunked the last ten days of college, Now in Delhi.

Checked out a lot of movies, very disappointed with RGV's Aag; His horror flick Darling turned out to be a comedy. Dhamal was nice, Ratoutille (spellcheck reqd :-P) was interesting, Invasion had a very abrupt and a bad ending, Bourne Ultimatum was good (havent seen Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy's ending is left). A good movie month.

Followed the T20 worldcup, was amazing, the final was great, saw the bowl-out b/w India and Pak, Yuvi's sixes and the Heart stopping final. Couldn't follow Soccer or F1 this year, a bit disappointed on that.

It has been a nice month throughout, 5 days still left, will try to make the max out of this. Thats all for now. cheers...

Finally, i'm bored enuf to come back to writing... phew, shifted to hostel, started classes, joined the gym, was busy with the guitar, have been very busy lately... didn't realize that almost 20 days have gone by. presently i'm in delhi, i'll be doing a bit of shopping, roam here n there, get my permanent drivers license made and do other random stuff... nothing much to write though so i'll end it here. (finished JK Rowling's last book of the series...)

Came back to delhi this morning, woke up at 4:30 in the morning and left with uncle at 6, reached in about three hours, uncle was driving at 120-130 km per hr, it was nice... hehehe

Had an unplanned trip to Kasauli recently. We left chandigarh around 10 pm, three guys, two bikes, went up to Kasauli, had many stops on the way - took pictures, fooled around(booze and fags), had fun. Came back the same night and none of us knew the way, just had a general idea, got lost many times...

In other stuff; got my admission to the college and hostel, i'll be going to delhi on friday get the rest of my stuff and will come back by sunday, then shift to the hostel the same day... lot of things to do...

Snippets: The Mumbai Local

Many interesting events have occurred in my life that i'd like to share, so i've come up with snippets which i'll post once a while to cover the events.....

This one happened around october 2006, parents were in mumbai, i had gone there for the vacations, i was with my cousin, we were going to Dalal Street, cousin had some work there....

We are in the Vashi Station, theres a train parked on another platform, we didn't know that it goes to CST. Suddenly the train starts to move and is empty, my cousin shouts run, this one goes there... we both start running like hell, get down the platform, cross the railway line, onto the platform and we manage to get inside a bogey, then we realize that it is the ladies compartment so we both get down are running along, the station is about to end then the cousin shouts "Kya Karna Hai? (what to do)" i say "chalo(move)" and we somehow manage to get inside... all this happened within a time frame of 12-14 seconds and we were out of breath when we got inside the compartment half shaken and really exhausted we settled ourselves on the empty space...

We really laugh on this incident... when we look back at it, it was scary though... people who have been on the mumbai locals will really know what this means

Now I'll begin my final year, plan to do well, lemme see how it goes, life is almost on track, I'll be getting the admission done on Monday, probably move in the hostel by Tuesday - as a senior. The Celebration...

Had a small part in the house, just family and a few relatives... simple but a good event, it was nice and then the best part - To the malls with my cousins... had a blast, one of them was like ur entering ur 21st year and then started giving me gyaan - on crazy stuff, it was nice, enjoyed the trip. Yeah plus i had trip to temples today, in the morning with mom and grandma then in the evening with dad and the entire family.

It was nice... "my day" ; the teens are over, im in the 20s now he he he, more mature kind of fun begins here, hehehe...

WOOT! I turned 20 today, out of my teens, just 1 more year then i'll probably run away and marry some girl... he he he, Calls started pouring in before i had even got up, couldn't sleep in the morning, but i'm not complaining.

Life is same as usual, results not out yet, i'm not sure if i'd get a place in the hostel or not... dosen't matter, i'll find a place to put up somewhere, i'm just eager to start my final year in college, want to give it all the best i have in me. Sounding a bit philosophical...

My result is not out yet, Its not that i'm worried about my performance, it is just delaying all the program, i need to get my admission done in the final year(yeah, we need to take admission every year), get a room in the hostel and stuff, important things to take care off, well its just frustrating.

Also, its my birthday tommorow, i'll start my 21st year on this planet, can't actually believe it, time has flown by, i haven't planned anything so lets see what happens?

Car and Guitar

Finally, i got my drivers license, should've got it 2 years back, i was in no mood to do things on my own. Took our lancer for a drive on the Highway without the fear of getting pulled over...lol. Feels nice.

And the guitar, i kept practicing the "F" chord the entire day, fingers have gone sore but i'm enjoying it.... he he he.... thats all for now...

The event got over, had fun, was busy where the food was being made - tasted everything on the menu but had to skip lunch then. It was a nice experience.

Done with the travels for now. Got my cousin sister's engagement party at our place, so getting prepared to have people in lots... he he he. Getting bored a bit so passing time playing MMORPGs and listening to music. Getting back to running in the morning, trying to get my life a bit busy, i'll see what can be done.

Just spent the entire day with friends roaming about Cannaught place, then PVR priya and then the malls in Rajouri garden. Saw "Pirates of the Caribbean, end of the world" Loved it. Thats all for now.

Woot! I am currently feeling like the people in the episodes - the lonely planet and globe trotters, so far, i've had trips to Jaipur and some parts of Rajasthan. Now theres a 10 day trip to my hometown, then a trip of uttaranchal. A lot of packing and unpacking to be done, however hectic i'm loving every moment of it.

I have stumbled upon a method to earn more pocket money. I know web designing(don't ask me how). I'm working on a website. Professionals charge anywhere between 18000-30000 for a website, I don't mind doing it for 10k - 12k . So even if I do 3 of them a month, I earn anywhere between 30k-40k a month which is not bad.

I'll see if can figure out something. It'll be good stuff. Done with my packing, I think i'll leave tonight. Nowadays i'm really fed up of traveling between delhi and chandigarh; its kinda boring until u get some good figure besides you.

Done with the papers on 10th, a bit easy now. I'll be going to Delhi tomorrow or the day after. Will be back on my exercise schedule, it feels good when you are physically active. Also, i am now an owner of an apple iPod. Its great, nowdays i'm plugged in into it. Now i better do some packing...

I'll be free on 9th; till the end of june, Will continue with my fitness stuff try to loose those extra 10 kgs, high time for a fit bod now. Spidey 3 is out, will catch up with that, and i think i'll have an i pod in the next few weeks, and about time too... Portable music is the best thing since err... no idea. lol.

Done some pending work lately, got my Cell activated, Got the CRF stamp for the CDS form, got to complete that too, and my Honours papers on 9th and 9th are left, still got to study a lot... and a career to think about, lets see how life unfolds....

Most of my papers are over, only a few easy ones left, glad they're getting over, Try to loose weight, lost 5 kg in one month, still 10 kg left. Also learnt to play a few bar chords on the guitar, now at least i can place my fingers easily, can't wait to get home to get my hands back on the guitar... life's becoming a bit interesting now....

Got my english paper tommorow... lol, i'm fed up of studying, getting bored, nothing to do my guitar is at home... Life's has kind'a stopped... lol and i'm not even 20...lol. The exams will go on for 40 days... so many papers, I know i'll clear all the papers, but scoring good is what that matters, that's were i'm gonna have problem in some papers but it dosen't matter... i'll be celebrating today evening, study a bit at night... go to college tommorow paper's at 2 so it'll be fine. Hope so... well, i'll be leaving it here for today!
